The shoes worn by Bill Murray’s character Steve Zissou in the 2004 film formed an integral part of the film’s iconic imagery and costumes. The shoes in the Wes Anderson film were based on an Adidas sneaker released in 1959 for the Rome Olympics and feature dark and light blue stripes, yellow shoelaces and a gold “Zissou” emblem.

Adidas chose to actually manufacture the shoes 13 years after the film’s original release, with the company releasing just 100 pairs of the shoes. The Life Aquatic sneakers were released without any promotion at this month’s We Love Green music festival in Paris, where Brazilian musician Seu Jorge, who makes a cameo in the film, also performed. The shoes are also sold out on the Wes Anderson online shop, where they retail for $254.98.

Adidas has not announced any plans to produce more of the Steve Zissou-inspired shoes. Since its release, the 2004 comedy has been remembered for the iconic red knit caps and light blue retro-inspired uniforms worn by Murray and his costars.
