Colombian jewellery and fashion accessories designer Mercedes Salazar has created a special earrings collection for Manish Arora, the fashion brand by the eponymous Indian designer. The collection was showcased by Manish Arora at the label’s latest show during the Paris Fashion Week, and will be available at both Mercedes Salazar and Manish Arora stores soon.

Salazar told FashionNetwork.com that it was Manish Arora himself who contacted her for this collaboration.

"He called me two months ago to tell me he was in love with my earrings, which he had seen worn by a friend. The next day he sent me a mood board, which I thought was very inspiring and fun, and a couple of weeks later I was ready with this collection of colourful, 1980s-inspired earrings," said Salazar.

The earrings designed and produced by Mercedes Salazar are part of Manish Arora’s ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ collection. The jaguar is the collaboration’s inspirational animal, and the earrings feature the Colombian designer's signature oversized volumes, in an extensive palette of fluorescent and gold-toned colours.

Salazar made a name for herself in the fashion world through major international e-tailers like Farfetch, Anthropologie, Net-a-Porter and Moda Operandi. Her much-coveted creations blend craftsmanship tradition with directional trends.

Salazar does not usually disclose her brand’s business figures, though sources close to her reported that the results for 2017 were “very positive.” The brand currently operates 5 stores in three cities in Colombia, and its products are available in 19 countries as well as on its own international e-shop.
