For the last few seasons, French designer Simon Porte Jacquemus has been getting the Paris catwalk show programme under way with his womenswear creations. For his first men’s fashion show, Jacquemus has now decided to break new ground, and has announced the decision to present his first menswear collection on June 25, one day after the Paris Men’s Fashion Week’s closing day. Above all, Jacquemus will be showing his men’s collection in the south of France, where he hails from.

Yoann Maestri, the first menswear face for Jacquemus - Jacquemus

As usual, Jacquemus broadcast the news on Instagram, only a few hours before he celebrated the Olympique Marseille football team reaching the final of the Europa League. Last year, Simon Porte Jacquemus was the guest of honour at the OpenMyMed fashion festival in Marseilles.

Last February, when Jacquemus heralded the intention of developing his first menswear collection, he said: “My latest collection was for my mother. I’ve always told myself that I’d launch menswear once I fell in love.”

While the launch details have not yet been revealed, as of the evening of 3rd May Jacquemus’s menswear has a new face, and muscles in abundance.

Its brand ambassador will in fact be French rugby union international Yoann Maestri. The picture announcing the show was taken by the designer himself, and features Maestri, clad only in a pair of shorts, by the Mediterranean seaside, a powerful white dog in the foreground.
