Denim lovers rejoice: Madewell, the denim brand owned by J. Crew, is arriving on the UK high street in partnership with John Lewis.

The British department store chain has signed a deal to exclusively distribute Madewell in its stores, starting with the new 230,000 sq ft Westfield White City store next week, according to the Evening Standard.

More stores will stock the brand’s new season collection from autumn.

Madewell is currently available in the UK via Net-a-Porter, and offers international shipping on its own website.
“The introduction of Madewell builds on our focus to provide our customers with a selection of unique brands that they cannot find anywhere else on the high street,” said Jo Bennett, head of womenswear at John Lewis.

“We’ve seen a continued demand for a physical presence from our UK customers so are excited to be finally able to provide them with a place they can experience Madewell in person,” added Joyce Lee, vice president of design at Madewell.

Whilst J.Crew has been struggling to reverse a decline in sales, its sister brand Madewell has continued to report positive numbers in the last few years. The denim brand saw its sales grow by 22% in the third quarter, contributing $107.5 million to the group.

The brand’s success lies on its core jeans styles, which offer classic and enhanced shapes at an affordable price point.
