On Wednesday 1st February the Milano Unica trade show will open its doors for the second time at the new Milan exhibition centre in Rho, on the city's outskirts, with an entirely new floor plan designed to give a more upmarket flavour to the event.

The Milanese show is dedicated to fabrics and accessories collections for the Spring-Summer 2018 season, and will run until 3rd February. It expects to host 365 exhibitors, 66 from outside Italy, as opposed to 371, 72 of them from abroad, present in February 2016.

In addition, 40 Japanese companies will once again be featured in the 'Japan Observatory' section, dedicated to Japanese manufacturing excellence. The show will also host 22 South Korean exhibitors, up from the 13 present last year.

Thanks to these two special sections, Milano Unica will see its total exhibitor number rise to 427, as opposed to 424 a year earlier. There will be 128 exhibitors from outside Italy, compared to 125 last year.

The highlight of Milano Unica's 24th edition will be the presence of Paul Smith. It is not the first time that the British designer is featured at the Italian show, as he already attended the inauguration of the event's 16th edition, in February 2013.

On Wednesday at 5.30 pm Paul Smith will open Milano Unica by holding a seminar on inspiration entitled 'You can find inspiration in everything', for an audience of fashion academy students. At the same time the show will present the creations of last year's fashion students, made using fabrics and accessories provided by the exhibitors.
