Spanish fashion and fragrance business Puig is strengthening its global position with the announcement of a new partnership with Clarins. The company will relaunch distribution of its premium brands in Australia and New Zealand with Clarins-owned subsidiary Trimex.

Starting April, Trimez will provide back office, logistics and commercial services to Puig in Australia, and will be responsible for distributing the company’s products in New Zealand. Puig will retain control of all brand marketing-related activities and supervise the management of key accounts.

Puig is also set to open new headquarters in the region. Trimex, part of Clarins since 2014, specialises in the distribution of beauty and fragrance brands in Australia and New Zealand and its brand portfolio includes Clarins, Thierry Mugler, Azzaro, Paco Rabanne, Prada, Nina Ricci, Jean Paul Gaultier, Versace, Moschino, Missoni, Hermès, Ferragamo, Cartier, Dunhill, Oscar de la Renta and Annick Goutal, as well as cosmetics label Laura Mercier.

The new venture in Oceania follows further recent agreements including an Asia deal signed in January. The moves further consolidate the Catalonian group’s presence in the international market.

“We are pleased to start a new strategic partnership with Groupe Clarins. The complementarity of our business has proven to be a valuable asset in other geographies and we look forward to replicating this success in Australia and New Zealand," said Marc Puig, chairman and CEO of Puig.

Jonathan Zrihen, president and CEO of Clarins added: “By joining forces in Oceania, we can build an even more efficient and focused organization, create synergies and accelerate the growth of both companies in the region."

Based in Paris, Groupe Clarins was founded by Jacques Courtin-Clarins in 1954. Like Puig, it is a family-owned business specialising in the cosmetics and fragrance sector.

Clarins has currently a worldwide presence in 130 countries and 24 subsidiaries. The group produces its products exclusively in France and has 10,000 employees.
