As attractive prices becomes a key issue in the battle for attracting and retaining cash-strapped customers, UK health & beauty giant Boots has trebled the number of products available for its Price Advantage loyalty programme members.

And a major change to the programme, which gives Advantage cardholders exclusive access to lower prices, sees it now being launched online for the first time.

Seen as a major move for the retailer, the wider scheme is being supported by a dedicated marketing campaign, the biggest ever promotion for the Boots Advantage card.

The scheme, which initially offered reduced prices on 150 products in-store, will now see a further 300 items added, in categories including beauty, health and baby.

When shopping online, Boots said customers will need to ensure they’re logged in to their account either in order to claim the instant discount.

Boots Advantage Card holders who purchase products included in the scheme will see an average saving of £2.65 per product. Some products will save customers up to 50% off/up to £17 off.

Pete Markey, chief marketing officer at Boots UK said: “Price Advantage was born following customer feedback, with many telling us that they would like to receive immediate benefits through their Boots Advantage Card, as well as being able to save up points and treat themselves in the future.

“The response from the store launch has been really positive which is why we are now making it more accessible by rolling out online and adding in more products.”
