Belstaff Glasgow reopening sees launch of appointment service

British heritage brand Belstaff has reopened its Glasgow store this week as Scottish non-essential shops have been allowed to open their doors again for the first time in months. The company is using the moment to introduce a by-appointment offer to its stores.

Belstaff's Glasgow store has just reopened

The reopening comes with the launch of the new appointment service that means Belstaff will now offer out-of-hours appointments, allowing consumers to shop when the store is otherwise closed (its new opening hours run from 11am to 5pm). Customers can also book personal shopping appointments inside of opening hours, managed by store teams.

And the one-to-one service is being extended to its online operations “for those who prefer to stay home, with outfitting advice provided by video call”.

It’s part of a trend being seen in the luxury arena as companies navigate reopenings and recognise the need to cosset and pamper their high-spending customers, while also keeping them at arm’s length in line with government restrictions on retail.

For Glasgow specifically, the business, which opened its other UK and German stores earlier, has deep-cleaned the location and has a raft of the usual social distancing, customer flow control and hygiene measures in place.

But the firm is also going above and beyond that with its staff wearing face masks and gloves. Complimentary face masks will also be provided to shoppers who request them. The fitting rooms will be closed but can be opened on request, and will be thoroughly cleaned after use.
