Swedish sportswear brand Björn Borg has unveiled a underwear collection for men designed in collaboration with British-born illustrator Ryan Hawaii.

Hawaii, 23, has created pieces for Off-White and Converse, and worked on creative projects with Nike, Skepta and Red Bull since debuting in the industry in 2014.

Björn Borg is a brand that doesn’t shy away from loud prints, and the latest collaboration underlines this with three new print designs.

They are inspired by Björn Borg’s tennis history (the brand is named after the Swedish professional tennis player), by rain and by Hawaii’s own signature, derived from a selection of colours from a large mural he painted on his bedroom wall.

“Björn Borg is known for its bold underwear prints. I am just trying to translate my art into a new medium, making them as fun and vibrant as possible to almost create an environment within the prints with different details that you notice over time,” said the artist.

"I think the contrast of the two worlds that we both respectively come from is what makes this unique. Being from South East London to working with a Swedish sportswear brand isn’t something you see every day, but the middle ground is really a passion for great art and freedom within creativity. To see my work on underwear is a new unique medium for [it]," he continued.

The limited-edition men’s underwear collection has launched in the brand’s stores, online and also in Selfridges, as well as in a number of other stockists.
