British fashion lifestyle label Cath Kidston is launching physical stores in Canada with three pop-ups in the Toronto area in partnership with Halcyon Brands. The brand, which is known for products featuring ditzy florals and cute, very British, prints, is popular globally and has been expanding worldwide in recent years.

Its new Canadian stores will open at the Fairview Mall on September 9, Markville Mall on September 11, and Toronto Eaton Centre on September 19. Measuring 800 to 1,200 square feet, they “will benefit from prime locations within the popular malls.”

While open, they’ll add to the brand’s international tally of 200 stores in 15 countries. They’ll close at the end of December.

“Canadians have a soft spot for all things British, Cath Kidston will surely be well-received. The shops bring a bright and joyful presence to our market,” said Carole Teitelbaum, President of Halcyon Brands.

But will they lead to permanent shops in the Canadian market? That’s clearly a possibility with the pop-up model being widely used by businesses as a way to test the local waters.

While Cath Kidston's long-term plans have yet to be unveiled, Halcyon  said that Teitelbaum “is positive the brand is here to stay. Cath Kidston is a global success story and Canada is a natural home for her.”
