Footwear designer Amina Muaddi has been tapped to design for Rihanna’s luxury Fenty brand.

Muaddi, who launched her namesake brand last year, has had her fair share of industry experience. In 2013, she co-founded the luxury footwear and accessories brand, Oscar Tiye, before leaving in 2017. In addition to her own brand, she currently designs footwear for French fashion designer, Alexandre Vauthier

Muaddi’s own footwear designs are a combination of classic and cool -- from feather and jewel-adorned slings to iridescent latex thigh-highs. And, with no shortage of fans -- she currently boasts 127,000 followers on her brand’s Instagram and 309,000 on her personal account -- her footwear ‘drops’ regularly sell out.

The designer knew she had garnered the attention of Rihanna when she received a message from Jahleel Weaver, Rihanna’s stylist, after her footwear brand’s launch.

“He said, ‘Congratulations on a wonderful collection. I just wanted to let you know that I bought a few pairs for Rih from Net-a-Porter and Browns,’” Muaddi said in an interview with FootwearNews, where she revealed that she had been hired to design footwear for Fenty.

“He didn’t ask me for shoes; he just literally communicated that he had bought them for her. That was amazing.”

Since then, Muaddi’s footwear has been seen on the pop-star-turned-entrepreneur in public, as well as on Instagram, and her shoes were featured in the blowout Savage x Fenty show during New York Fashion Week

According to FootwearNews, Muaddi’s partnership with Fenty will be a freelance project while she continues to design for Vauthier.

Currently, Muaddi’s namesake shoes are available through Farfetch, Net-a-Porter, Intermix, Moda Operandi, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue, among others.
