LVMH takes Thomas Pink to India

Thomas Pink has just opened its first store in India, in the Ambience shopping center, Vasant Kuibnj. After joining the LVMH group in 1999, Thomas Pink approached Reliance Brands to manage its entry into the Indian market. Following positive reports from market experts claiming that the Indian middle class are looking to spend their money on beautiful things, the “I” in BRIC has suddenly become much more interesting for luxury brands. Further Indian store openings for Thomas Pink are on the cards, notably in the country’s most populated city of Mumbai.

The British brand, specialized in men’s shirts, has also began developed its women’s wear and has over 100 stores across the globe. “Planting the Pink flag in India and bringing our unique tradition of fine shirt crafting and tailoring to the increasingly cosmopolitan Indian consumer has been a long standing personal dream," said Jonathan Heilbron, president & CEO, in a press release in April.

Though India boasts an array of wealthy clients, Thomas Pink is the first LVMH brand to open a store in the country. In 2010, Reliance Brands created a joint-venture with luxury menswear brand Ermenegildo Zegna to support store openings over a five-year period, with openings scheduled in the country’s seven biggest cities.
