Malone Souliers is busy on several fronts. The women’s footwear label co-founded in London in 2014 by Americans Mary Alice Malone, the label's designer, and General Manager Roy Luwolt, underwent far-reaching changes in recent months. It has now embarked on a series of new projects, including the launch of its very first men's footwear line.

Last summer, Mary Alice Malone decided to retire and devote herself to her family, but abruptly re-joined the company early last December, whereas her associate Roy Luwolt left. Without giving any further detail, Malone Souliers stated in a press release that “Mary Alice Malone, founder and owner of Malone Souliers, is back in her role of creative director,” designing the Autumn/Winter 2019 pre-collection.

The press release mentioned Roy Luwolt - co-founder and general manager of the label, who had also taken on the role of creative director in the last few months - only in passing, stating he has been replaced by Steven Hope, appointed as CEO by Mary Alice Malone “as Roy Luwolt has left the company.”

Steven Hope, who has been in charge of Malone Souliers for two months, is a British executive with long-standing experience in the retail trade and the Asian market, having worked for 26 years in the apparel industry in China. He recently consulted for the British government on e-commerce operations in China.

After this senior management reshuffle, Malone Souliers announced it is diversifying into men’s shoes, and will launch a first collection in 2019. Among other initiatives, there is the opening of an office in New York and the intention of “continuing to grow [the label’s] large distribution network worldwide.”

Beyonce, Cameron Diaz, Jessica Chastain, Anna Kendrick and Lupita Nyong’o are all customers of Malone Souliers, a label which grew exponentially in the last five years. Its glamorous, comfortable shoes have been an instant success with retailers and celebrities alike. Malone Souliers is particularly appreciated for the quality of its shoes and their contemporary yet timeless design.

The label is distributed via about 320 multibrand retailers and, with the spring 2019 collection, it more than doubled the previous season’s sales.
