Marine Serre is on the fast track. The emerging French designer, renowned for her futuristic couture sportswear, launched the eponymous women’s ready-to-wear label in 2016 and won the LVMH Prize in 2017. She is now making a move into menswear, with a capsule collection available on the market from mid-March.

The collection consists of 22 items and includes sport jackets and de-constructed parkas that echo Serre’s main design themes, as well as sportswear and workwear items with a nod to 1990s vintage.

Specifically, a long fleece overcoat in plush-effect polyester with large floral prints in warm hues, priced at €1,800, a tracksuit top and trousers in pastel tie-dye colours priced at €1,560 and €795, black cycling-style bodysuits at €260, a long-sleeved t-shirt at €390 and a series of accessories including sunglasses, a key-holder and a recycled denim bob hat.

The items were first presented last September, during Marine Serre's first Parisian catwalk show for the Spring/Summer 2019 collection, which featured four men’s looks. The same was done in the February show for the winter 2019-20 collection.

Marine Serre is regarded as an emerging label worth keeping an eye on, and is available at about 60 multibrand retailers worldwide. Some of them are also attracted by Marine Serre’s menswear items, currently available exclusively at the Ssense store in Montreal, Canada, and on the latter’s e-shop.

Marine Serre is testing the waters with the first foray into menswear before extending the range.
