Miu Miu is going places in Paris. The label by Italian luxury group Prada, after basing its headquarters in the French capital four years ago, is now decidedly boosting its presence in the city by adding two new stores. The first has recently opened in rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, and the second one is planned for the second half of 2018 on avenue Montaigne.

It took four years for Miu Miu to set up shop at 1 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, not far from the Prada store at number 6. The premises were formerly occupied by Missoni, and were bought by Prada Retail for nearly €14 million in 2014.

As a result, the existing Miu Miu store at number 96 on the same prestigious street was closed down, and the label temporarily moved to place Beauvau, a location which has since closed too.

The new, 540-square-metre store is housed in a typical 19th century Parisian building, and extends over three levels, with two shop windows overlooking the street and three large windows on the first floor. It has two separate entrances on the ground floor, separated by the building’s main entrance. One of the store’s entrances leads to the footwear collection area, the other to accessories, handbags and ready-to-wear.

With its chichi décor, the store feels like a precious showcase, sky blue its dominant colour, from the fitted carpet to the velvet sofas, with the walls, columns and display counters all upholstered in damask fabric in the same hue. The only contrasting colour is the white of some of the walls and the corniced ceilings, and the large fireplaces overhung by mirrors.

Miu Miu’s second Parisian project this year is the opening of a store at 14 avenue Montaigne, adjacent to the Prada store located at no. 12. With this latest shop, the Italian label’s footprint in the French capital will increase to nine retail units, including the shop-in-shops in the Galeries Lafayette, Bon Marché and Printemps department stores.

In the rest of France, Miu Miu also operates a store in Cannes, and a seasonal one in Saint-Tropez, plus a store in Monte Carlo. Altogether, Miu Miu currently has 168 monobrand stores worldwide.
