After a year of searching, Mulberry has finally found a new CEO in Thierry Andretta. The British leather goods company didn’t look very far, since the Franco-Italian manager joined its board as an independent non-executive director in June 2014. The group also recently hired him as a consultant to assist in its international expansion strategy.

Andretta succeeds Bruno Guillon, who left in March 2014 after two years marked by three profit warnings and the failure of an attempt to move upmarket.

The new CEO will take up his post on April 7. He will work closely with the new creative director Johnny Coca (ex-Celine), who joined the company in July. Godfrey Davis, the longtime president of Mulberry who acted as CEO in the interim, will return to his role as non-executive chairman, the company said in a statement.

Andretta, who previously served as CEO of Lanvin (2009 to 2013), was chief executive of the Italian jeweler Buccallati until last September. Andretta has also worked at Moschino, Fashion Box, Replay, Gucci, LVMH, Celine and Emanuel Ungaro. The former president of the Chambre Syndicale de la mode masculine has also served on the board of the Swedish brand Acne Studios since 2012.
