A key feature of the recent Paul Smith menswear runway show was a series of Mulberry bags, with the two labels linking up for a unisex bag capsule collection for AW23.

The 10-piece capsule will debut later in the autumn season and comes as the two British brands link up for the very first time on the back of their “shared approach to heritage style and sustainable innovation”.

The totes and crossbody collection (which will be priced from £450 upwards) include the classic Mulberry Antony messenger bag in the primary colour blocking and with the signature stripe for which the Paul Smith label is known. There are also two new Antony creations — the Clip and the Tote.

Both labels were founded a little over 50 years ago and for decades have been at the forefront of UK-based luxury fashion.

Sir Paul Smith said the brands share “a similar approach to creativity and craft”.

And Mulberry CEO Thierry Andretta also highlighted their focus on creativity and craft, as well as their eco credentials with the full collection set to be made at Mulberry’s two carbon-neutral Somerset factories. They’ll use leather sourced from Gold Standard tanneries that has been certified by the Leather Working Group.

The bags being made in England is a new step for Paul Smith whose accessories are made in Italy and Spain.
