With the recent creation of a new Europe home base, with its headquarters in Amsterdam, the most recent news at Patagonia is the appointment of a new Director of its Europe activities. The independent American company has recruited Ryan Gellert as the new Managing Director of Europe.

Just a little more than two years after his arrival, Stefan Wahlén is passing on the baton. His successor is an outdoor specialist. He has spent 15 years at Black Diamond, where he has been President of the brand since 2012. From 2009 to 2011 he was Senior Director of the supply chain. And between 2005 and 2009 he was Managing Director of Black Diamond in Asia.

"As a climber and backcountry enthusiast, Ryan understands our core customer, and his work with direct action environmental groups is aligned with our mission and values," said Patagonia Vice President of Global Sales John Collins.

For its 2013-14 financial year ended in April, Patagonia achieved 540 million dollars (345 million pounds) in revenue in Europe.
