UK premium lifestyle retailer The White Company has extended its contract with multi-channel fulfilment services company Wincanton for a further five years. The new deal comes with more automation for the business.

Those services will include international e-commerce order fulfilment, store replenishment for its footprint of over 60 stores in the UK and Ireland, and value-added services for around 1.6m customers annually.

Initially, Wincanton will manage The White Company’s existing warehouse facility in Swan Valley, Northamptonshire. However, over the course of the next 18 months, it will oversee the migration of the retailer’s central warehousing and distribution operations to its own “state-of-the-art e-fulfilment facility” at the Web in Rockingham by late summer 2023.

As part of this move, Wincanton said it will introduce “further customer experience improvements, operational capabilities and support capacity for growth, implementing higher levels of automation to drive efficiency”.

Once transitioned, The White Company will utilise a significant proportion of the Web’s automated capacity, Wincanton noted.

As part of the move, around 175 workers, primarily engaged in fulfilment and warehousing services, will transfer from The White Company to join the 20,000-strong Wincanton team as part of this partnership.
