Wexler first joined Adidas in 2000. The longtime executive was the VP of global entertainment and influencer marketing for Adidas, before assuming the coveted Yeezy role, which was created in collaboration with Kanye West, in November 2019.

Prior to that, Wexler was the global director of entertainment and influencer marketing for more than eight years with the famed athletic brand.

According to an internal memo, Wexler decided to leave Adidas “to pursue interests outside the company," as of August 31.

The note was signed by Torben Schumacher, general manager Originals & Styl, and Alim Dhanji, SVP/HR Talent and HR Brands.

“We are grateful for the significant contributions Jon made to the adidas brand during his 20 years with the company, including the groundbreaking partnerships he established with creators that include Beyoncé, Kanye West and Pharrell. We wish him the best in his future endeavors,” Adidas said in an email to Fashionnetwork.com.

Yeezy footwear often sells for more than $200 a pair in the United States and elsewhere. The brand, which spans fashion and apparel, reportedly made $1.5 billion in sales, last year.
